Corporate overview

Complix is focused on the discovery and development of Alphabodies™, a novel class of biopharmaceuticals that, due to their unique structural and functional properties, are particularly suited to address disease targets that are difficult to reach with antibodies or other types of therapeutic protein scaffolds.

Complix has been created in 2008 with €1.75 million in seed financing from its founding investors, Gemma Frisius Fund, Baekeland Fund, Vinnof and Trustcapital. In early June 2010 Complix completed a Series A venture round and secured €5 million from a syndicate of life sciences investors co-led by Vesalius Biocapital (Luxembourg) and LRM (Belgium). Also participating in this round were CRP-Santé (Luxembourg) and existing investors. In 2008 Complix has also been awarded a €0.5 million research grant from the IWT (Institute for Promotion of Innovation by Science and Technology in Flanders).

Complix is headquartered in Hasselt (Belgium) at the Life Sciences incubator BioVille, and has research facilities in Ghent (Belgium) and in Luxembourg. Complix has established a fully owned subsidiary in Luxembourg, which is focused on the discovery of novel anti-viral therapeutics, and has a strategic research alliance with the Centre de Recherche Public de la Santé (CRP-Santé), a government owned research institute.

Complix´s drug development focus is on Alphabody™-based therapies for auto-immune and infectious diseases. Through its currently ongoing programs the Company is developing therapeutic Alphabodies™ that interfere with key targets in those diseases areas and that have the potential to offer significant benefits over existing therapies.
